Domingo Malpica Avilés

December 27, 1940 - June 28, 2021

Domingo Malpica Avilés se fue a casa para estar con su Señor el 28 de junio del 2021 a la edad de 80 años.

Domingo estaba retirado. Sirvió a la comunidad hispana como Ministro de la Eucaristía, Catequesis Matrimonial, Viacrucis Viviente y Responsos a los difuntos originalmente en su tierra natal Puerto Rico y continuó su apostolado al emigrar a los estados Unidos el 27 de Julio de 1995 al estado de Virginia.  Desde 1995 hasta que su salud lo permitió se dedicó al servicio de la comunidad hispana trabajando varios años en el programa RICA (Rito de la Iniciación Cristiana de Adultos) Ministro de la Eucaristía, Viacrucis Dramatizado, Responsos a los Difuntos, Catequesis y Rosario.  Comenzando su apostolado en St. Jerome y luego en Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Su familia y todo el que lo conoció siempre recibió, apoyo, guía, amor y hasta un poco de humor.

Vivirás siempre en nuestros corazones como un ejemplo a seguir.

Sobrevivientes: Su esposa por 58 años, Gladys D. Malpica, hijos, nietos, bisnietos, familiares y amigos.

La familia ha pedido a todos los asistentes que lleven mascarilla por el COVID para la salud y seguridad de la señora Malpica.


Domingo Malpica Avilés went home to be with his Lord on June 28th, 2021 at the age of 80.

Domingo was retired. He served in the Hispanic community as minister of the Eucharist and Matrimonial Catechesis. He served in the ministry of the Dramatization of the Passion of the Cross and Responses to the Deceased originally in his homeland Puerto Rico and continued his apostolate after immigrating to the United States on July 27, 1995 to the state of Virginia.

From 1995 until his health declined, he dedicated himself in the service of the Hispanic community working for several years in the RICA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults), as Minister of the Eucharist, the Dramatization of the Passion of the Cross, Responses to the deceased, Catechesis and the Rosary.  Beginning his apostolate at St. Jerome and then at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

His family and everyone who knew him always received support, guidance, love and even a little humor.

You will always live in our hearts as an example to follow.

Survivors: His wife of 58 years, Gladys D. Malpica, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 5th, at Altmeyer Funeral Home-Denbigh Chapel, 12893  Jefferson Ave., Newport News, VA, from 4:00PM t0 8:00PM. A Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, July 6th beginning at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church at 1:00PM at 100 Harpersville Rd, Newport News, VA.

Altmeyer Funeral Home-Denbigh Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
