Dorothy J. "Dottie" Batschelet

June 14, 1931 - February 3, 2021

Dorothy “Dottie” Batschelet was born June 14, 1931 in Mount Carmel, PA to Joseph and Dorothy Rocaskey.

Dottie moved to Virginia in 1959 to work in the Financing and Accounting Department at Fort Eustis, where she advanced to Chief Supervisor, retiring after 30 years of civilian service.

Dottie was a devout member of the Catholic Community at the Fort Eustis Regimental Memorial Chapel where she volunteered as Lector, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and Parish Council Treasurer.

Ms. Dottie was devoted to her parents; she moved them to her home where she worked on gardening projects with her father until his passing and where she continued to provide care to her mother.

She was politically active, serving as a crisis worker for young women and an advocate for stray animals.

Her greatest joy was Sunday Lunch at the China Buffet with her “dear, dear friends.”

Dottie had a big personality and a bigger heart and an even bigger family of friends who will miss her dearly.

She was the last member of her immediate family. Her parents, Joseph and Dorothy Rocaskey, precede her in death.

Dottie is survived by family in Pennsylvania and the many friends she made.
