Loved by everyone who knew her, Dorothy Sanetrik Murray, 87, of Virginia Beach, Va. went to be with the Lord on September 23, 2021. Dorothy passed away peacefully with family at her side.

Dorothy was born to the late John and Anna Sanetrik on June 19, 1934 in Stewartstown, West Virginia.

Dorothy and Jack owned and operated the Tide’s Motor Hotel and Lodge on 21st street and Atlantic Ave. and later The Beach Carousel on 13th and Pacific Ave. Dorothy “Nana” was passionate about watching sports and loved nothing more than to follow her grandson, the light of her life, Mason, play ice hockey.

Other than her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack and 6 of her 9 siblings; brothers, John Sanetrik and Thomas Sanetrik and sisters, Helen Perry, Ann Sanetrik, Geraldine Lucas and Martha Kelly.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; son, Mike who resides in Maui with his wife Tami; daughter, Elaine McConnell and husband Mark, and their son Mason as well as sisters; Pauline Raschella, Carolyn Pascuzzo and Irene Papa.

Dorothy’s visitation will take place on October 4th, 2021 from 5-7pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home Maestas Chapel (1801 Baltic Ave, Virginia Beach, VA 23451). A memorial mass will be held at 10am on October 5th, 2021 at St. John’s the Apostle Catholic Church (1968 Sandbridge Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23456) burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk.

In remembrance of Dorothy S. Murray’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to St. John the Apostle Catholic Church or Catholic High School of Virginia Beach (4552 Princess Anne Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23462) in her name.
