Edward Vincent Beck passed away Thursday, July 2 in Virginia Beach, Va. Ed was born December 28, 1960 to Victor and Ella Beck in Norfolk, Va. He was a graduate of Harborfields High School in Greenlawn, New York and he earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Regent University in 2011 and 2013, respectively.

Ed served for several years in the U.S. Army and rose to the rank of Staff Sargent. A decorated Gulf War veteran, he returned home with a thyroid disease from chemical exposure. Upon his release from active duty, he became an active realtor in the Hampton Roads area for several years. A lover of language and the power of words and wit, he wrote and read extensively and had a heart of gold.

Ed’s wife Rae, whom he loved very much, predeceased him. His mother, Ella Beck, step daughter Tamra Bargar and step-grandson, Tyler Crowell, also predeceased him. He is survived by his stepdaughter Renee Crowell (Thomas) and their son Tanner, his father, Victor Beck and step mother Theresa, siblings Judi (John), Vic (Debby), Joe (Gail), Jim (Karen), and Jane, ten nieces and nephews, and his other brothers and dear friends and housemates Randy Miller, Christopher Radford, and dear friend Jeff Radford, friends and church members.

Ed was a member of Abounding Grace Church in Virginia Beach and he will be missed very much. His legacy of love and lots of laughter will continue.

His remains will be interred at the Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, Virginia 23434 on Monday, July 20th. Because of the Covid Virus situation, his family has chosen to temporarily postpone a graveside service for another time. Condolences may be left for the family below.
