Eleanor Puthe Murphy

January 9, 1937 - December 27, 2020

Eleanor Murphy, 83, recent resident of Westminster Canterbury and over fifty year resident of Virginia Beach died Sunday, December 27 after contracting Corona Virus around December 9. She was predeceased by her husband, William Murphy, of 43 years. She is survived by her sons, William and Richard Murphy and her grandsons, Sean and Mathew Murphy. She had developed many friendships while living in Chesopeian Colony and playing at the Virginia Beach Racquet Club. One of her greatest joys in her life was the practicing of and teaching of Yoga to many people over many years. She was very happy when local recreation centers finally recognized Yoga and she was able to lead many classes there. Also, teaching individuals and small groups at home she developed close bonds with some students. After a life time of enjoying singing, she finally got serious and joined the Sounds of Joy professional singing group and also joined the church choir. She was lucky enough to have traveled the world and spent the last five Christmases taking cruises with her sons and grandsons. She remained active and inquisitive to the end and will be greatly missed.

What our families say...

My family and I are grateful to Angie and the entire Altmeyer team for providing a thoughtful viewing and funeral service for my Auntie. They were kind and respectful through the entire process, listening attentively and carrying out our requests with compassion. Thank you for your help, but most importantly, thank you for your sincerity!
