Estina Debra Ernestine Matthews

Estina Debra Ernestine Matthews, age 62, died on Thursday, September 9, 2021, after being ill for over 13 years. She was born on the beautiful island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, to the proud parents of Simper and Dorcas Matthews. Estina Matthews graduated with her High School Diploma from Continental Academy. She relocated to the U.S. Virgin Island of St. Croix in 1997. She worked as a cook and cashier in the Food Industry and as a Supervisor in the Hardware/Wholesales Industry.

 

Estina was a God-fearing woman who loved her family fiercely, particularly her kids and did anything to make sure they were happy and successful. She was a people person who enjoyed laughing and talking with her friends and family. In her spare time, she loved to knit and sew while listening to Lucky Dube and Gospel music.

 

Estina survived by her 5 children, Elizabeth, Cuthbert, Sidbert (Kassandra Phillips-Matthews), Sherry-Ann, and Jo-Ann (Douglas) Rayne, 10 grandchildren, Akeem, Shakeel, Dalanie, Kayleigh, Kaleb, Jayden, Nylah, Devonte, Dante, and Ziya, and 2 great-grandchildren, Aiiden and Amiiya. She also survived by her 5 brothers, 2 sisters and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

A funeral service in honor of Estina’s life will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Peninsula Memorial Park, 12750 Warwick Blvd, Newport News, Virginia 23606
