Matthew 11:28-29 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, and you will find rest for your souls.”
Mr. Eugene Hardin Senior was a native of Lamar County, Georgia. He was born on July 12, 1946 unto Mr. Hugh Dorsey and Mrs. Mable Elleby Harden. Mr. Hardin was a proud Vietnam Veteran of the United States Armed Forces. He also retired with 34 years of service from the US Postal Service. He enjoyed bowling, fishing trips, karate, and softball. He also played the harmonica and spoke different languages.
On Monday evening June 22nd of 2020 Mr. Eugene Hardin petitioned the lord saying “I am tired and I want to go home” the lord honored his request (Philippians 4:6) and he departed from his mortal body free from all sickness and pain and ascended unto heaven peacefully in the comfort of his home.
He leaves to cherish his legacy a devoted wife of 49 years Mrs. Paulette M. Hardin; One daughter Ms. Shona Hardin of Smyrna, GA; 2 sons Mr. Frederick Gaston & Mr. Eugene Hardin Jr. both of Jersey City, New Jersey; 10 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandschildren. One sister Ms. Clarice Bogan. Three brothers, Mr. Robert (Joyce) Harden of Jacksonville, Fl. Mr. Willie (Gloria) Harden of Decatur, GA. Mr. Russell (Angela) Harden of Griffin, GA. 3 brother in laws, Mr. Rick Johnson, Mr. Jerry Johnson, and Mr. Mack (Michelle) Johnson. 6 sisters in law, Ms. Mattie Jo Harden, Ms. Daisy Harden, Ms. Lisa Mayo, Mrs. Nancy (William) Raeford, Ms. Mary Ann Johnson, Mrs. Phyllis (Charles) Bryant; A host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his two brothers Jimmy and Dorsey Harden his sister Ms. Lucille Banks, and his sister in law Ms. Beatrice Johnson.
A public visitation will take place Monday, June 29, 2020 at Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory- Southside Chapel 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462, from 12:00-8:00pm. A memorial service is scheduled to take place Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home with a procession to follow to Albert G. Horton Jr Memorial Veterans Cemetery at 3:00 pm.
