Evalds “Mike” Reimanis

Evalds Reimanis, “Mike,” of Virginia Beach, passed away after a valiant fight with cancer at the age of 92 years.
He lived a life of service to others. As a young man, he was translator during World War II, and then became one of the first male nurses in England. Mike came to New York City in 1955 where he worked in several hospitals as a private duty nurse. He later was an inspector of nursing homes for New York City and New York State.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years, Gladys (formerly Pollock) Reimanis; son Peter; daughter Judy Sotosky and her husband Michael; daughter Diane Eddy; grandchildren Erika and Will Eddy and Jonathan Sotosky (Jessica). Further survived by other relatives and friends.
In accordance with Mike’s wishes, he has donated his body for research. The Altmeyer Funeral Home-Southside Chapel is assisting with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed by clicking the “post a condolence” button below.

Thinking of my lovely Uncle and remembering when he took me to play Baseball in New York when we visited Uncle Mike and Aunty Gladys, and the rest of our American family as a young boy. Love and best wishes to all at this time. Daryl, Louise and Luke
