CHESAPEAKE– Harry J. Blakely, 64, went to be with the Lord on September 13, 2017 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Harry was born the year of 1952 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Cdr. Harry James Blakely, Sr. and Eloise Blakely. Harry worked as a Master Plumber, Production Manager, and Instructor for Roto-Rooter for 26 years. He was a member of the Unity Free Will Baptist Church in Chesapeake where he served as an usher, greeter and “candy man”. He was a loving husband who enjoyed spending time with his family, as well as an avid golfer and member of the Battlefield Golf Club.

Harry is survived by his wife, Tammy Blakely; daughter, Jennifer Hosid; grandchildren, Sarah and Michael Daggs; sister, Susan Roberts and husband Chris Roberts, Sr.; nephew, Chris Roberts, Jr.; niece, Lauren-Grace Irwin; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Joyce Rottler; and brother-in-law, Ray Rottler.

A visitation will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 929 S. Battlefield Blvd. Chesapeake on Monday, September 18, 2017 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Unity Free Will Baptist Church, 360 Hickory Road East in Chesapeake on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 11am officiated by Pastor Earl Sutton. Burial to follow at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Harry’s name may be made to the Unity Free Will Baptist Church.
