Helga Elsa Dorey, 78, born in Germany and was a Newport News resident for 48 years, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Parker Dorey, Sr. and her daughter, Sonya Dorey.
She was a Lutheran and was a member of Warwick Moose Lodge #1711 where she prepared German food at numerous events.
Survivors include her son, Arnold P. Dorey, Jr.; cousins, Christel and Uwe Storbeck of Germany; and a close family friend, Chris Monte.
The family will receive friends from 12 Noon – 1 pm Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Denbigh Chapel, followed by funeral service at 1 pm. Burial will take place in Hampton Veteran Memorial Gardens.

For the beautiful person you always were, inside and out . The spirit that just soared, you were truly a remarkable lady. There was no keeping you down. You always had such a passion for life, I always enjoyed our time together. There was always a lot of laughter, you spoke your mind and I loved it. The German food and teaching me German words, telling me of your life when you first came to America. Ahh, so many special times with such a fun and loving lady,,, I know you are home now Helga.
