Goodbye, my oldest friend. I'll miss our scrabble games and discussions about esthetics.

I have just moved back to Virginia where Ilene and I were neighbors and friends growing up. I am so sorry to learn of her passing. May her loved ones be surrounded by a field of grace.

I taught with Ilene at Tallwood High School in Virginia Beach, 2005-2006. She truly had a brilliant, yet complex mind. As an artist, she drew beautiful portraits and floral watercolors. She had a very soft, gentle touch in her graphic work, as well as her treatment of watercolor. At that time, she seemed to be struggling with some health issues. I was transferred to another school and saw her at high school art teacher inservices, but that was the extent of our contact. I knew she wanted to retire and move to Ghent, in Norfolk, and believe she was able to live in the Hague Park Apartments. May her memory be a blessing and bring peace to all who mourn.

I knew Ilene from our teen years. She was very intelligent, independent, articulate, artistic and had a wonderful sense of humor. I was proud to have known her.
