Jack Burise McMorris

Jack B. McMorris, of Newport News, VA went to be with his Lord and Savior in heaven on October 5, 2019.  He was born February 4, 1934 in Woodville, MS, to the late Charlie and Lizzie McMorris. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings: Clarence, Henry, Mattie and Waddell.

Jack proudly served his country for many years in the US Army, during the Vietnam War and after until his retirement. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Saint Leo University (formerly Saint Leo College) in April of 1979. Jack worked in other areas as a civil service member. He later had his final career with the Anheuser-Busch Co. until his final retirement in 1994.

One of Jack’s greatest enjoyments came from watching many athletics; such as basketball, football & baseball with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 58 years Carrie L. McMorris; his sons: Montie McMorris and his wife, Reba, and Ritchie McMorris and his wife, Rochelle; his daughters: Cathy McMorris-Armstrong, and Susan McMorris-Perrin and her husband, Lee; his grandchildren: Montie, II, Alicia, Gavin, Mario, Zack, Paris, Trey, Zoe, Zada; and 8 great-grandchildren. He also leaves his brothers and sisters: Charlotte Burkhalter, Charlie, II, and Addie Nash, all of Baton Rouge, LA; David of Woodville, MS; Beatrice McDonald of New Orleans, LA; LaSalle of Greenwood, MS; and Ruby of Los Angeles, CA; as well as a host of other family members and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 19, from 11:00AM to 12:00PM, followed by a service beginning at 12:00PM, at Altmeyer Funeral Home-Denbigh Chapel, 12893 Jefferson Ave., Newport News, VA 23608.

Jack will be laid to rest at a later date, at Arlington National Cemetery, where he will receive military honors.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation for your kind and generous expressions of love. Your thoughtfulness will never be forgotten.
