Jim Langnecker, 81 years of age, from Virginia Beach, passed away on January 7, 2020, surrounded by his family. He was born in New Brighton, Pennsylvania to Thurman L. and Mary E. Langnecker.
Jim was a longtime member of Suburban Christian Church. Most of all he loved the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior.
Jim served United States Navy for 30 years and retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer. He started his service as an electronic technician and then as a career counselor.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Betty; his daughter Debbie Smith and her husband Paul; granddaughter Melissa Smith Kunka and husband Bobby; two great grandchildren Colby Austin Smith and Gabriella Rose Smith Wagner; and adoptive son Greg; many nieces, nephews and many friends that he thought of as family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, James Frederick Langnecker, two younger sisters, Kathy Ross and Ethel Hanscom.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in Suburban Christian Church, 5132 Bellamy Manor Dr. Virginia Beach, Virginia immediately followed by a funeral service. Interment will take place in Colonial Grove Memorial Park, 3445 Princess Anne Rd. in Virginia Beach. Pastor Todd Haynes will be officiating. Condolences may be left for Jim’s family below.

I just heard of the passing of Jimmy Langnecker as we all called him...I grew up with Jim on Marion Hill,, all through Marion Hill school and on through High School,, We had much fun and laughs,,and enjoyed Sunday School at CM&A...I'm proud of his achievments in the Navy and with the Lord,, I became a missionary and he was so glad to hear that during one of our reunions..My condolences to his family... We will all meet in Glory soon,,
