Janice Schoger

August 31, 1946 - August 29, 2015

Janice Helen Schoger (nee Pemberton), of Virginia Beach, entered into Eternal Life on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the age of 68 years. She was born on August 31, 1946 to the late Redden Herbert and Helen (formerly Nortonen) Pemberton. Left to cherish Janice’s memory are her children Kelley and Andy Schoger; her siblings Mimi Pemberton and Herb (and sister-in-law Sharon) Pemberton. Further survived by other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her brother Bill Pemberton.

Jan was a beloved mother, sister and friend to many. She was filled with humility, humor, compassion and kindness. She worked in the mental health field for many years and raised her two children. She loved to garden and adored animals, and worked as a volunteer with them. She gave to Best Friends Animal Society, a charitable organization and sanctuary for homeless pets. Her biggest gift was her open heart and ability to make those around her feel accepted, understood and loved unconditionally. You could “come as you are” with her.

A Memorial Service and reception for Janice will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home-Maestas Chapel (1801 Baltic Ave. Virginia Beach) on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 11 AM.

Memorials appreciated to Best Friends Animal Society or Joyce Meyer Ministries.

What our families say...

In my opinion, there is no better facility in Virginia than Altmeyer Funeral Homes. Not only was Chris Sisler there to hold my hand every step of the way, his family members were holding the door on the day of the funeral to help and encourage me. I will never forget their grace. He led me and my family through the process as a personal friend and neighbor, and as the ultimate professional.
