Janice Marie Galloway of Virginia Beach went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 19th, 2021, at the age of 89. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
Janice was a true beach girl, graduating from Oceana High School and known as “Skeets” to many of her friends. As a young woman, she worked for the C & P Telephone Company as a switchboard operator. A loving wife to her husband Richard “Dick” Galloway, the founding owner of Virginia Beach Seafood Company, she lived in Shadowlawn for 65 plus years, where they raised four children and were very active members of their family church.
Janice was preceded in death in 2012 by her husband of 62 years Richard “Dick” Galloway, and by her eldest son Richard “Kelly” Galloway in 2017.
She will be lovingly remembered by: her son, John (Judy) Galloway; daughters, Janice (Scott) Monroe and Joane (Donnie Howard) Walker; daughter-in-law, Vicky Galloway; ten Grandsons: Jason (April) Galloway, Parker (Evie) Galloway, Jesse (Julie) Galloway, Neal (Corinne) Galloway, Dru (Chilita) Galloway, Brandon (Carey) Monroe, Kyle (Brittany) Monroe, Josh Monroe, Storm Walker, Mason Walker; and, fourteen very special Great-Grandchildren, and extended family and friends.
Janice’s family would like to thank all of her wonderful caregivers for their devotion, love, and compassion; the hospice team for their kindness; and, heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Barbara Parks for her care and expertise.
There will be a private family graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Fire Department Station 11 Beach Borough.
