Jeffrey Rand Seagrave has left this earth to join our Savior in heaven at the age of 77. Loving husband of Kay Seagrave for 38 years, he passed peacefully with Kay by his side at their Virginia Beach home on Thursday, October 3, 2019. In addition to Kay, Jeff is survived by step sons Ronald Kaufmann and wife Christine, Jeffery Kaufmann and wife Diane, step granddaughters Kathryn Kaufmann, Emily Kaufmann and Kristyn Kaufmann, and niece Gale Helix. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents Jarome and Mildred Seagrave and his sister Gary Van Horn.
Jeff was born on January 4, 1942 in New London, CT. After growing up in Albany, NY, he attended Drake College in Des Moines, IA and Mohawk Valley Community College in NY, ultimately receiving a bachelor degree in art. Jeff served his country honorably as a Lieutenant JG in the United States Navy from 1964 – 1968. After the Navy, Jeff worked in advertising for a short time before embarking on a lifelong career teaching art. In 1984 Jeff earned a master’s degree in Biblical Studies from CBN University. After completing his last 10 years teaching art at Salem Middle School, Jeff retired in 2005 with a total of 28 years service in the Virginia Beach school system.
On April 4, 1981 Jeff married the love of his life, Kay, at Virginia Beach Community Chapel. Jeff and Kay attended Grace Bible Church in Virginia Beach where Jeff served as a deacon, an usher and taught men’s bible study. After he retired, Jeff was called by the Lord to start a driving ministry, and for many years provided transportation to the blind and those in need. He was an avid bird watcher, and enjoyed watching all sports.
Jeff was a devoted Christian and a serious student of the bible. He was a spiritual teacher and role model to his family and all who knew him. Generous and a devoted and caring friend, Jeff never knew a stranger. He had a servant’s heart, always putting others before himself. He will be missed by us all. Rest in peace with our Lord, Jeff. We love you.
