Our beloved Dad and Grandad, self-made success, problem-solver, proud West Virginian and avowed realist, has peacefully joined his brother, sisters and parents in heaven. We will miss his great joy at family gatherings, vast collection of plaid shirts, love of bluegrass music and limitless advice. We sure wish we had the chance to roll our eyes just one more time 🙂 We will always remember him (with tissue in hand) tending his lawn & flowers with such care, fretting over his daily routines, laughingly entertaining us with stories of his youth in West Virginia, fussing about the jet noise, and most of all loving each of us in his own special way. But we are content to know he is with his Lord Jesus watching over the family he loved so much. He is survived by his broken hearted children, Mark, Troy, Joni, Leesa (and Echard), his grands Justin, Amber, Brad, Casey, Gage and Sophie, and 10 great grand blessings. He also leaves behind his sister, Helen, and a host of nieces and nephews in West Virginia.
The service will be Tuesday, October 27th at 3pm, with a brief gathering at the facility immediately following. There will also be an opportunity for anyone that would like to stand (or sit) and share a memory, tribute or happy anecdote about our dad. He would have loved that.

My condolences to the family. Silence is importance and especially when actions spoke volumes. I have a different recollection of Jerry. Jerry, hope your special places invited you with open arms. I will not!!! Valhalla!!

To the man I always referred as “Mr. Hartley.” We met 25 years ago when you came across an article I had written on financial planning. I remember our quarterly meetings where you always urged me to be better to do better and always liked that I put God first in my life. I will miss our regular phone calls and lively discussions. I am so thankful to have known you and to have called you “my friend”. May God give peace and comfort to the family. Robin Tull

For Jerry’s Family, we join you in mourning the profound loss you are experiencing. Having known Jerry for the past 20 years, but more importantly, being part of the human condition ourselves, we understand the complexity of what you might be feeling right now; and trust the Lord to be with you during this time. Jerry brought such a lively addition to any conversation and he is going to be missed! Family, please know that he spoke fondly of you when he was with us and he loved you very much!
The Lord bless you and keep you, The Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you, The Lord lift up his countenance toward you and give you peace. From Numbers 6:24-6

Grandad,

Adam, Gage, Lucas, Miles, myself and other friends and family miss you dearly. We will continue to keep you in our prayers. We pray that you can watch down on us as Gage and I continue to grow together. We pray that you can find someone to talk politics with. We pray that we will forgive ourselves for what could’ve, should’ve, would’ve been.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” -Matthew 11:28-30

Forever in our hearts xoxo.
