Jo Ann Johnson

June 9, 1936 - December 30, 2017

Jo Ann Johnson was born on June the 9th, 1936 and left this world on December 30th, 2017. She is survived by her cousins Phyllis, Wade and Dickie. Not only was she survived by these relatives but by the staff members of Kentucky Avenue ICF, Virginia Beach Supported Living, Skillquest Services, Case Management and Louise Eggleston Services who were more than just her staff, but her family. She was affectionately known as our Diva, as she just loved to shop and had an incredible sense of style. Wherever she went she chose to dress in her finest and was always perfectly accessorized down to the matching hat and purse. She was a very affectionate woman who always kept us entertained us with her sweet Southern ways. It was common to hear her say, “Well don’t you look PURTY today darlin!” We all loved the nicknames she had for us, some of her favorites were: “NURSE”, “Grandma”, “Angel”, “Momma”, “Judy” and “Lil’ girl.” Though she struggled with numerous health concerns in her last several years, she inspired us all by continuing to display a strong sense of gratitude, grace, faith, positivity and above all, kindness. Jo Ann, You taught us all much more than you realize. Though we are sad to say goodbye, we are rejoicing for you as well, as we know you are now free of pain, in your Heavenly home with our Lord.
