John A. “Johnny” Cox, of Williamsburg, Va. passed away on Sept. 3, 2018 surrounded by his children. He was born on Sept. 25, 1934 in Doncaster, England. In 1949 he came to the USA, and resided in Pittsburgh PA. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the US Air Force from 1953-1957. In 1958 he married his beloved wife of 38 years, Charlotte (St.Clair) Cox who preceded him in death in 1996. John worked in the Machinery Dept. NN Shipyard for 11 years until relocating to Pittsburgh in 1969. He retired as a Sr. Design Engineer from Bayer Corp. after 24 years and returned to VA. in 1996. He is survived by his sons, John A. Cox Jr., James R. Cox, and daughter Julie (Cox) Scott and son-in-law Nelson Scott, 8 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren, his cousin Jacqui of Boulder, CO, and his dear friend Linda. Visitation will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Denbigh Chapel, Friday Sept. 7, 6:30-8:30 pm. Graveside service will be conducted by Pastor Dennis Worsham on Saturday Sept. 8, at 10am at Peninsula Memorial Park.
