John Edward Mitchell

August 19, 1940 - January 10, 2021

John Edward Mitchell, 80, of Virginia Beach, VA received his heavenly wings after he peacefully passed away at his home on January 10th, 2021 surrounded by his family.  John was born in Roxboro, NC to the late John Henry Mitchell and Mary Royster.  After High School, John proudly served his country as a United States Marine for 10 years.

John had a love and passion for cars and owned an Autobody repair and paint business for many years, until his health declined.  John was a Christian man of faith and he served the Lord as a member of Queen Street Baptist Church.  He proudly doted on and loved his family, but he mostly cherished his wife Sherron of 53 years, who never left his side.

John leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Sherron Mitchell; daughter Tobey Graham (husband Courtney); son John Martin Mitchell who preceded him in death; and daughter Jody Little (husband Michael); his 7 grandchildren whom he dearly loved and adored; Summer, John, Joi, Isaiah, Justin, Myles and Calvin; a host of cousins; aunts; family and friends.

A Military graveside memorial will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Albert G Horton Veteran’s Cemetery 5310 Milners Rd, Suffolk, VA 23434. To watch a recording of the service please CLICK HERE.

What our families say...

My family and I are grateful to Angie and the entire Altmeyer team for providing a thoughtful viewing and funeral service for my Auntie. They were kind and respectful through the entire process, listening attentively and carrying out our requests with compassion. Thank you for your help, but most importantly, thank you for your sincerity!
