CHESAPEAKE – John H. Ashley, Sr., 57, died December 29, 2017.  John was born in Bluefield, WV to the late Walter and Louise Ashley.    He had worked as a copier technician and had been attending church at Kingdom Life Ministries.  John enjoyed collecting coins and antiques.  He enjoyed watching NASCAR and old tv shows.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 37 years, Jane Roth Ashley; children, John H. Ashley Jr. (Leslie) and Courtney M. Surgeoner (Ian), both of Chesapeake; sister, Patricia Crookshanks (Charles) of Suffolk; grandchildren, Greyson, Colton, and Sophie; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Chesapeake with a life celebration service immediately following with Pastor Randy Wooden officiating.  Committal services will follow at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.  Memorial donations may be made to the Kenny Roth Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Indian River High School.  Express condolences to the family at www.altmeyerfh.com.
