John Henry Pileckas

December 18, 1956 - September 1, 2020

John Henry Pileckas passed away peacefully on September 1st, 2020. He was welcomed into heaven by his wonderful parents, Paulette Kirby Stauffer Pileckas and Henry George Pileckas.

John was born on December 18, 1956 in Rochester, New York. His sisters Deborah, Paula, and Michelle were delighted with their new baby brother. Later, he had the pleasure of being a big brother to Joseph and James Pileckas. The whole family later relocated to Cherry Hill, New Jersey where John eventually took over the family business, Cherry Hill Associates.

After marrying and becoming a father, John, a true Jersey guy, relocated under protest to Virginia Beach, VA. In Virginia, he continued to pursue his passion for golf, spending many a sunny day putting around the local courses. Also, an avid football fan, John loved his yearly pilgrimages to Philadelphia to attend the Army-Navy Game with his brothers-in-law, Frank, Bill, and Mike, and the rest of his “outlaws.” John was known in both the Hampton Roads Area and the Delaware Valley for his outrageous sense of humor and his infectious spirit. If you knew John, you were his friend immediately and for life.

He is terribly missed by his two daughters, Jackie and Suzie, as well as his wife Becky. John is survived by his brothers and sisters, Deborah Young (Dave), Paula White, Michelle Lutz (Michael), Joseph Pileckas, and James Pileckas, as well as many, many affectionate nieces and nephews. A private memorial will be held at the Church of Christ and St. Luke’s in Norfolk, VA on Thursday at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please go to your local pub and order a shot of Seagram’s VO straight up in John’s memory.

What our families say...

In my opinion, there is no better facility in Virginia than Altmeyer Funeral Homes. Not only was Chris Sisler there to hold my hand every step of the way, his family members were holding the door on the day of the funeral to help and encourage me. I will never forget their grace. He led me and my family through the process as a personal friend and neighbor, and as the ultimate professional.
