John T. Scahill Sr., a native of Pittsburgh, PA and a resident of Norfolk, VA was called home by his heavenly father on Feb. 15, 2018. John worked in the steel mills of PA before joining the U S Navy. Upon completion of a 22 year military career; he moved to Virginia where he would go on to work over 20 years as a civil service employee. He was an avid supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project.
Survivors include John T. Scahill Jr., Kelly and Andrea Scahill, Emily Scahill, Steve and Brenda Hoffman, Stella Potter, and Linda Johnson, all of Norfolk, VA; Betty, Thomas, Michael, Donna, Patty, William, and Wendy Scahill all of Pittsburgh, PA; Gary and Sharon Lucas of OH; and many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8100 Granby St. in Norfolk on Thursday, Feb 22, 2018 at 2pm following a private family viewing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in the name of John T. Scahill Sr. John was a well-loved family man and a devoted citizen to the city of Norfolk, The State of Virginia and the US Navy. He will be missed immensely. I’m so sorry to hear of John’s passing. He was a great co-worker at NARF and friend to me. John was truly one of a kind, and will be missed. My sincere condolence to Kelly and all the family.

Kelly & Andrea; Your dad was a hoot and was definitely from that generation that told you the way it was whether you wanted to know or not. That’s what made him what he was, deep down he loved everyone of you and he will be missed. Prayers with you and the family now in your moment of grief.
