Johnny Wesley Tefteller

February 15, 1931 - December 25, 2020

Johnny W. Tefteller, 89, passed away suddenly on Christmas Day, 2020 after a brief stay in hospice care at Accordius Health Riverpoint, Va. Beach.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Evelyn, daughter, Ginny and her special friend Jo, his grandson Wesley Bryant, Jr., Daughter-in-law Linda Bryant, sons Ronald and Darryl (Lee) and brother Thomas Earl.

Johnny was preceeded in death by his son Wesley Bryant, Sr. as well as his parents and five siblings.

Johnny joined the Air Force and then transferred to the Army where he served his country proudly until he retired with 20 years of dedicated and honorable service. He was a proud veteran of both Korea and Vietnam.

After retiring from the military he went to work at Pepsi Bottling Co. as a mechanic and respected member of Teamster #822 until he retired in 1993.

Mr. Tefteller was a driven man with unmatched work ethic, undying love for his family, friends, and country. He was an avid fisherman, loved working in his yard and for many years looked forward to working a garden every spring.

Johnny requested cremation and a private scattering by his daughter Ginny will be at one of his favorite places. A memorial service with Veterans Honors will take place in the spring for family and friends to be announced at a later date.

The family would especially like to thank the staff at Sentara Careplex Hampton and Interim Hospice for their constant and attentive, dignified treatment to Mr. Tefteller and ensuring his wife and daughter were supported throughout this sad time.

Mr. Johnny (as he was known to all his neighbors friends, young and old alike) will be greatly missed with many fond memories.

What our families say...

My family and I are grateful to Angie and the entire Altmeyer team for providing a thoughtful viewing and funeral service for my Auntie. They were kind and respectful through the entire process, listening attentively and carrying out our requests with compassion. Thank you for your help, but most importantly, thank you for your sincerity!
