Jolene Valentine Arris passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, December 4, 2017. She was born on February 14, 1962, to Dianne and Joseph Szuba in Fullerton, California.
Jolene graduated from Dixie Heights High School in Edgewood, Kentucky, and Western Kentucky University in Owensboro, where she studied retail management. Her professional career included managing retail outlets for Stitches and Nutrisystem, and also working as an account executive for Alpak, Inc. During her spare time she enjoyed long walks and running, and spending time with the elderly.
Jolene will always be remembered for her kind heart and her compassion for her family and friends. Her middle name, “Valentine”, reflected not only her birth date but also the affection she showed to all who knew her. She was a wonderful and supportive wife and a devoted and caring parent. Jolene would always greet you with a genuine smile and a warm embrace, for she overflowed with grace and a sincere interest for the well-being of others.
In addition to her parents, left to cherish her memory are her husband of twenty-three years, David Arris; her son, Daniel, and daughter, Mary Katelynn; her brother, Daniel Szuba; her sisters, Maureen DeSouza, her husband Elton; their sons; Morgan, Keegan and Carter; and Leanne Manifold, her husband Paul, and her daughters; Bethanee and Olivia Hebert; father-in-law, Daniel J. Arris; sister-in-law, Kim Arris Potter, her husband Walter, and their daughters; Alex and Maddie; sister-in-law Katy Arris Wilson, her husband Kevin, and their children; William, Sophie and Kayla; brother-in-law Todd Arris, his wife Allyson Willoughby, and their children; Carter and Lane. Jolene was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Mary W. Arris.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 12 p.m. at Virginia Beach United Methodist Church, 212 19th Street, Virginia Beach.
