Joy Sue Van Curon Blanton peacefully  passed away on September 11, 2018 in Virginia Beach, Virginia and  was born on July 6, 1936 to Mr.  S.C. and Mrs.  Helen Van Curon.   Joy  was a graduate of Harlan High School and also attended University of Kentucky.

Joy was previously married  to Charlie R Blanton.  They had three children  Franklin Craig Blanton of Frankfort, Ky.  Paula Allyson Blanton Dalton of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Charlie Todd Blanton of Frankfort, Ky.

Joy retired from the Legislative Research Commission from the Commonwealth of Kentucky after working for 30 years as a research analyst focusing on personnel legislation.  She was passionate about politics and served as National Committeewoman for the Democratic party in the Commonwealth of Ky.

Joy is predeceased by parents Mr. S.C Van Curon former editor of The Frankfort State Journal and Mrs. Helen Trask Van Curon former journalism and English teacher of Franklin County High School.

Joy is survived by her brother Samuel Mark Van Curon of Virginia Beach, her three children, Daughter-in-law Theresa Blanton.  Son-in-law SFC Karl H. Dalton (USAR) four Grandchildren, Karl Kloss and Ashlynn Allyson Dalton of Virginia Beach and Jacob Craig Blanton and Megan Marie Blanton of Kentucky. and two granddaughter-in-laws Jessica Dalton of Virginia Beach and Madeline Blanton of Ky.

Joy is also survived by two great grandchildren Aubrey Mae and Caleb Hudson Dalton of Virginia Beach.

She is a member of the Church of Good Shepherd of Frankfort, Ky.

A memorial service will be held for Joy on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 4:30 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home 5033 Rouse Dr. Va Beach, Va 23462.
