CHESAPEAKE – Karli Jo Holweger, 14, died May 20, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Karli was born in Portsmouth, VA to Scott and Michelle (Cummings) Holweger. Her earthly body limited her, but she had much to give to the world. She had a quiet presence, but if you listened with your heart, and really took the time to get to know her, she had a lot to say. She was smart and sassy, patient and sweet. She was always fashionably dressed with fingernails painted. She was a favorite student at Hickory Middle School, an Angel Rider of Ainsley’s Angels Racing Team, I Run 4 Michael FB page (founder Tim Boyle), and enjoyed movies and music.
We would especially like to thank her team of doctors, Dr. Pasquinelli, Dr. Epstein, Dr. Atay, Dr. Lesher, Dr. Enlow, and Dr. Mehta with CHKD for advocating for her best care. Also, special recognition to her home nurses – Nicole, Jessica, Tasha, and Sheila, and many others for the last 14 years for providing loving care to our daughter; her two favorite recent teachers – Mrs. Brashear and Mr. Filson; and massage therapist/great friend Pam.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving parents, Scott and Michelle; younger brother, Kasey of Chesapeake, VA; maternal grandparents, Bill and Marilyn Cummings of East Grand Forks, MN; paternal grandparents, Larry and Carol Holweger also of East Grand Forks, MN; uncles, Joel Cummings (Kris) of Pelican Rapids, MN and Todd Holweger (Bethani) of Bismarck, ND; five cousins (Kalli, Jacob, Nikolas, Jaden, and Shawn); her BFF Danielle of West Fargo, ND; and a host of other family and friends.
The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life Gathering on Thursday, May 27th anytime between 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home (929 Battlefield Blvd South, Chesapeake). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Edmarc Hospice for Children (www.edmarc.org) or to the CHKD Palliative Care Unit (https://www.chkd.org/Support-
