Kathleen Bryant Michaelangelo (Memaw), 82, earned her wings and entered into the gates of heaven on Thursday, 11 January 2018.
She was born on June 14, 1935 in Nash County, North Carolina. She was a dedicated mother that enjoyed spending quality time with her entire family to include visiting siblings, nieces and nephews in Rocky Mount, Elm City and Wilson, North Carolina. She thoroughly enjoyed her Saturday’s out shopping and weekend trips to the casino with her “baby girl”. She was a simple and strong willed lady that dispite her medical issues would keep moving forward even when she didn’t feel well. She held a special place in her heart for those who were in her life (current & past) and lived the last 21 years with her “baby girl” just doing anything she wanted to.
She is survived by two sons, Tony Michaelangelo of Moyock, North Carolina; Frank Michaelangelo of Jacksonville, Florida; daughter “baby girl” Deloris Michaelangelo of Norfolk, Virginia; 1 sister (Annalee) and 1 brother (Purvis) of Wilson, North Carolina; 4 grandchildren (Tony Jr., Johnathon, Kevin and Katherine); 1 great grandchild (Joel) as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband (Tillio); parents; 5 brother’s; 3 sister’s and 1 grandson.
A celebration of life will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Southside Chapel (Greenwich Road) on Monday, January 15 at 1130. Due to frigid weather conditions expected, final words/ceremony will commence at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Chapel vice graveside.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to one’s choice.
The family is very grateful for everyone’s thoughts, prayers and support during this difficult time.

Deloris my dad, Loretta and I will miss Kathleen. We enjoyed her visits. The last time daddy spoke to her he was trying to get her back down for a week or two. She promised to come as soon as the weather was warm. We had some fun shopping trips and a lot of laughs. The stories her and granny and daddy would tell were fantastic. My dad would always talk about your dad making spaghetti and meatballs and how much he enjoyed that. That particular story would make Kathleen laugh. She will be missed dearly Deloris and she’ll never be forgotten. She loved you so very much and you took such wonderful care of her. She is in our hearts forever and just know we are thinking of you and you are in our prayers. If you need or want anything you know were here. We love you. Kathleen we love you sweet woman.

Memories of Memaw vary over a 17 year span but, I do know one thing, she had a heart of silly puddy. When we hurt, she hurt. Through hurricanes, financial problems, animal emergencies, animal deaths, family drama, and family deaths. God knows we had our share. She hunkered down and endured what ever came our way, so as to get through it. She was a tough but, loving woman. Memaw did not have an easy early life but, she did not let that keep her from feeling joy. When something hit her funny bone, she would laugh until she had tears. Laughing came easily.
She loved her family with everything she was and is, an angel. She is pain free now and is in heaven with God, which is exactly where she deserves to be. Memaw, you were an exceptional human. Now, you are an angelic being in God’s amazing Grace. We will see you on the other side.

Dee, my friend, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. We talked often about her and I know how much you enjoyed and loved her being with you. Although this is a very difficult time for you, just remember she is in God’s hand and free of pain. Cherish those precious memories. You and your family are in my prayers.
