VIRGINIA BEACH- Kenneth Robert Sherman, 67, passed away at home with his loving family by his side on Thursday, September 17, 2020. Ken was born in Charleston County, South Carolina. He worked for 30 years at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a Welder and then a Welder Planner. Ken was an active member of Liberty Live Church, Greenbrier Campus. Ken’s lifelong ministry was sharing his faith and testimony. Ken had a music ministry, performing at Nursing Homes, Prison, numerous solos at Church and various Gospel Concerts.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Joann; son Tim, daughter Kim Berry (Jeff); four grandsons: Bryce (Caroline), Chandler, Mason and Liam Berry; three sisters: Diane Pomberg (John), Pat Sherman (Charles), Karen Whitley (Ken); Sister-in-Law, Roberta Sherman; brother-in-law, Bruce Clark (Rhonda); cousins, nieces, nephews; and a very special family friend, Cindy Raney.
Ken was pre-deceased by his parents, Estelle R. and Allen V. Sherman, Sr. and his brother, Allen V. Sherman, Jr.
Visitation will be at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23462 on Monday, September 21, 2020, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Celebration of Life Service begins at 11:00 am with Pastor Dalton Stoltz officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the many Intrepid Hospice caregivers who supported Ken and Joann during his illness.
In lieu of flowers, Ken requested donations to Liberty Live Church, Greenbrier Campus, 1801 Sara Drive, Chesapeake VA 23320. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.altmeyerfh.com.
The family requests all in attendance to wear a mask and remember to social distance at all times.
