Our family is saddened by the unexpected passing of Kyle James Walikangas, 30, on March 23, 2021.
Kyle is fondly remembered by his family as a sincere and pure-hearted person that always treated his family and friends with the utmost respect. He enjoyed the company of his friends and family, especially when the traditional Southern cooking was being served. It has been tradition for the family and extended family to get together for large gatherings, and Kyle was always in the middle of the crowd mixing it up and bringing laughter. Family has always been important to Kyle, which showed in his pride for his sisters and the bond he shared with his mom and dad.
Sports have also been a passion for Kyle, both playing and as a fan. He was an avid baseball player growing up, which later carried on with friends and family to softball as an adult. Kyle was also thrilled that his long-time favorite football team, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, won the Super Bowl this year. His love of music reached over all genres and enjoyed his years in Orchestra from grade school through high school, playing the Cello. Kyle was becoming an awesome cook, especially on the grill.
While Kyle has gone to heaven far too early, the family is proud to know his election as an organ donor has allowed five other people to overcome their own health conditions to be provided a better quality of life.
Left to cherish his memory is: mother Donna Walikangas and father James Walikangas; sisters, Brooke Walikangas and Shelby Walikangas; grandmother, Hazel Casey; aunts: Karen Lynch and husband Neil, Helen Smith, Joanne Booth and husband Wade; uncles, James Casey and wife Charlotte, Dennis Fulgham and Dwight Smith and numerous cousins, friends and his beloved dog “Ruca”. Kyle is preceded in death by three grandparents, James H. Casey Jr., James S. Walikangas, Sr. and Ruth Walikangas
Kyle has always shared his joy with children. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking to have donations made to the Ronald McDonald Foundation in Kyle’s name. Please find the local chapter by going to www.rmhc.org.

I’ve known Kyle since I was a young kid running the streets of Roland Park til the street lights came on. Worked together at Uncle Al’s as adults. Always such a kind hearted and friendly guy. He was definitely taken way to soon and I send my condolences and biggest hugs to the entire family. I love all of you
