July 4, 1957- April 18, 2020.
Beloved Daughter, Wife, Mother, Nana, Sister, and Dear Friend.  Lane, age 62, a resident of Virginia Beach for 21 years and previously of Springfield, VA died peacefully at home on April 18th.
She was born on The Fourth of July,  1957 in Yokosuka, Japan. She was the fourth of six daughters born to Captain Frank S. Johnston, and Audrie Mary Peplinski Johnston.
Lane graduated Annandale High School in 1975.  She was graduated from George Mason University in 1979, where she received her BSN Degree in Nursing.  She was dedicated to the nursing field while at George Washington University Hospital where she spent most of her career.  A natural green thumb she spent much time tending to her many plants and gardens. She loved her books, and she read everything from Star Magazine to the Best Sellers List. Mostly she treasured her family including her energetic fur baby dogs.
She was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Aaron Ford, and her sister, Janice Johnston Ryals.  She is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, John Beverly Ford, her daughter Stephanie Blair Ford Driscoll (Terry) and Grandson, Seamus John Driscoll, her 4 sisters: Dana Johnston Klimas (Chuck), Mara Johnston, Kelly Johnston Thomas (Owen), Rona Johnston Courtney (Larry), and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life with be held later this summer in Northern Virginia.

I’m so sorry Lane, I just found out about your passing. We haven’t talked in years but I still think of times shared with you and John. The costume parties you had, trips to the hockey games, going out in my fathers boat, and everyone going downtown to watch a band play. I always thought we would all see each other again. You will always be in my thoughts, rest in peace.
