Leslie was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Ray and Helen Steffens. She spent her youth in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania where she attended West Mifflin South High school and Steel Center Technical School. She later earned a license in Cosmetology before attending Community College of Allegheny County for Nursing. Leslie was a registered nurse for 35 years and spent most of her career at Optima Health After Hours Nurse Triage offering advice and taking call for doctors.
Leslie was a devoted wife, mother, and Christian. Her children were her joy, and she worked a flexible schedule in order to be there to raise them. She recognized every moment is precious and made many happy memories with her family. Every summer she organized a “museum tour” and her children dubbed her “FUN CAPTAIN” since she always made fun plans. She devoted herself to her children’s success by arranging and accompanying them to countless music and horse-riding lessons, concerts, and school events.
Leslie was not a good cook, but tried to feed her family. They never complained. She will be remembered for her silly sense of humor, her love for her family, and love for her job. Leslie is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Michael, son Thomas, and daughter Katherine. She is also survived by her sister Lori, brother-in-law David, niece Stephanie, and brother Ray. It is Leslie’s wish that she sees you in Heaven when “the roll is called up yonder.” Please take a moment and consider where you will spend eternity. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, but God is faithful and that none should perish but have everlasting life.
The family will receive friends at Altmeyer Funeral Home at 929 S. Battlefield Blvd, Chesapeake, VA 23322 Tuesday evening from 6-8pm. The memorial service will commence at 7pm that evening.
