Lewis Edward "Lou" Byars

February 3, 1937 - June 17, 2021

Lewis (Lou) Edward Byars, 84, born to the late John and Addie Byars, in Blacksburg South Carolina on February 3, 1937 has passed away Thursday June 17, 2021.

Lou was a part owner of B & R Appliance after retiring from many other jobs, but his military career was what he was most proud of. Lou served for 20+ years in the United States Navy before retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. He was also a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, United States Memorial, and his other passion the national council corvette cubs inc.

Lou was predeceased by his daughter Louann and wife Norma. He is survived by his son, John and wife Christina; step-daughter Denise and husband Randy; three grandchildren, Ashley, Brittney and husband Steven, Joshua; step-granddaughter Leslie and five great-grandchildren; and his dog Austin.

His memory will be forever in the hearts of all who knew him. Lou was a caring and loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. It was Lou’s loving and giving nature that made him loved by all.

The family will receive friends at Altmeyer funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach on Friday, July 2, 2021; from 1030 A.M. to 1200 P.M. with a service starting at 1200 P.M., a military burial service will be held at 230 P.M. at Albert G. Horton, Jr Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, VA.

Family will receive friends following burial services at home starting at 6:00 P.M. at the residence at 233
Cortland Ln. Virginia Beach, VA.
