Linda Archer Legum

February 28, 1946 - January 21, 2021

CHESAPEAKE- Linda Arlene Archer Legum, 74, died January 21, 2021.  Linda was born in Portsmouth to the late William James Archer, Jr. and Bertie Harris Archer.  She was predeceased by her son, Aaron A. Legum.

Linda was a graduate of Wilson High School and received her Bachelor’s of Education from Old Dominion University.  After marrying Larry, the love of her life, Linda worked as an elementary school teacher in Nelson County, Virginia, for four years.  Once her children were born, she devoted her time and attention to raising her family and working in her husband’s medical practice as his “boss” and office manager.  Later in life, she enjoyed bowling and playing Bunco.  On Sundays at 40th Street, Linda could be seen enjoying the beach with book in hand, surrounded by the beach people and relaxing in the sun.  She was an avid reader, loved to travel and shop, and above all else, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Linda will be fondly remembered as a ray of sunshine beaming down her warmth on the friends and family she loved so dearly.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 52 years, Larry L. Legum, MD; children, Adam and Stacey Legum of Isle of Wight, Brandi Legum of Chesapeake; daughter-in-law, Nicole Legum of Virginia Beach; close friend, who was like a son, Craig, Pharm.D. and Jennifer Marshall of Chesapeake; siblings, Mary Jane and Max Pope of Knoxville, TN, and Toni and William James, III and Toni Archer of Chesapeake; grandchildren, Lauren, Ashton, Payton, Atley, Avery, Laney, Andersen and Porter; beloved pets, Augie and Wahoo; and a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Chesapeake, on Sunday from 4-6 pm.  A celebration of life service will be held on Monday at 2:30 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Tom Mercer officiating.  To express condolences to the family, visit www.altmeyerfh.com.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Linda’s honor to The Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters.
