Louis Padersky passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 11th at the age of 95 surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Gloria and two daughters Michele (Skip) and Lynn (Burt). Lou adored his grandchildren who will miss “Papa Lou” dearly: Dana (Brian), Marc, Jason, Scott, Leanne (Kevin) and Joni.  Lou also enjoyed his grandsons by choice Josh (Tasia) and Michael.  Lou was blessed with eight great grandchildren.  He was pre-deceased by his parents, Samuel and Molly Padersky, brother Ben “Sonny” Padersky and sister Jean Somer.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York and served in the US Army during World War II.  Lou moved the family to Norfolk in 1960 and was a long-time member of Temple Israel. He had a deep love of his Jewish faith and especially loved his borscht, matzah ball soup and challah. Lou basked in the glow of his family’s “Simchas” and had the great honor of reciting the blessings at each celebration.  He devoted his heart and soul to his family.
After working in the plumbing business for several years, he became the owner of Arco Hardware.  If he had his way, he would never have stopped working.
A special thank you to the kind and attentive caregivers who were with him in his last weeks. Our gratitude also goes to the professional and compassionate staff at Sentara Leigh Hospital during his final two days.
Burial will be at Forest Lawn on Wednesday, April 14th @ 11:00am with a live stream available at altmeyerfh.com.  A Zoom Minyan will be at 5:30pm on Wednesday, April 14th   which can be viewed by visiting https://templeisraelva.org/
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

I will dearly miss my fa]]

I’ll miss my FAV F-I-L dearly. I vacillated from Dad’s FAV S-I-L to his 2nd FAV due to tough competition.
Poppa Lou will be remembered as a most special grandfather by my children and by his great grand kids who had the special opportunity to spend Thanksgiving w/ their Poppa Lou & week summer 2019. I could go on, but Michele will be texting
me…”enough already, b4 u get yourself in trouble.” With Love

Love, Skip

I haven’t seen cousin Lou in many years, but used to talk to him when I would call Gloria. My memories of Lou would include his kindness and warmth whenever we spoke–whether it was in Brooklyn, Valley Stream, or Norfolk. Lou cared about you when he spoke, interested in your wellbeing. He will be missed. My heart goes out to Gloria, Michelle, Lynn and to all the family. Love, Barbara
