Marcus Justice Rascoe

November 2, 1994 - May 20, 2020

Marcus Justice Rascoe left this world as May 20th, 2020 was beginning. He was 25 years old. As his people awoke and the word passed, the news of his death rocked our emotions like tectonic plates shifting at warp speed. We raged. Then we began, as all must do, to care for our loved ones and to prepare to say goodbye.

The list of names of family who precede Marcus in death include the two rocks of our family, his grandfathers, Martin Murphy and Rogers Rascoe, Sr. Those who remain here to grieve Marcus’ passing are many; reaching across the Atlantic Ocean to the UK, and here in the US from the west coast of California to the east coast of New York and all in between. Holding him forever in their hearts; his mother, Samantha Rascoe, father, Rogers Rascoe, Jr., brother Rogers Rascoe, III (Trey) and his fiancée Shanice Ullah, sisters Ashley and Jazsmaine Rascoe, grandmothers, Nancy June Murphy and Gwendolyn Rascoe, and so many aunts, uncles, cousins who will miss him dearly. The rest of his family know who they are and what they meant to him. Marcus would say to us, “Love and Respect, Fam”. His true friends, his best friend, and his sweet baby girl, you know who you are. He loved you too.

Marcus was love and fire, and just like the sun if you got too close for sure, for sure you were going to get burned. He waged war with his demons and had great faith in his God. He was kind, compassionate and he loved hard. He was creative, mischievously funny with an infectious giggle, off the charts unique, intelligent, artistic, and fierce. He lived out on the edges, skate boarding right off of many of them. He is gone too soon from us. He was too big for this world. He was and now will forever be YOUNG WILD AND FREE.

God Bless him.

What our families say...

In my opinion, there is no better facility in Virginia than Altmeyer Funeral Homes. Not only was Chris Sisler there to hold my hand every step of the way, his family members were holding the door on the day of the funeral to help and encourage me. I will never forget their grace. He led me and my family through the process as a personal friend and neighbor, and as the ultimate professional.
