On the afternoon of Sunday, January 17, 2016 our beloved wife, stepmother, sister and friend, Margaret “Peggy” Ann Ricker-Swanger quietly passed away with her adoring husband by her side. She was a native of Gasport, New York.
Peggy proudly served in the United States Navy for over 22 years performing her duties as a commissioned officer of the Naval Intelligence Branch. During her tenure with the Navy she met and married the love of her life, Arvin Swanger.
Peggy had many hobbies that she enjoyed after retirement including pottery and gardening. Mr. and Mrs. Swanger became Master Gardeners and looked forward to putting their green thumbs to work.
Peggy was predeceased by her parents Robert J. Ricker and Mary Lucille Henry as well as her stepson, Scott. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 22 years Arvin; sisters Kathy (Jack) and Cindee (Dan); stepson Bruce (Kathy); three step grandchildren, Megan, Ronald and Scott; best friends Dolly (George), Judy (Jamie), LuAnn (Steve) and a host of other relatives and friends.
As part of Peggy’s wishes, her remains will be interred at Albert G. Horton Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving a donation to one of the organizations that was near and dear to her heart. To make donations, please visit: Virginia Beach SPCA, St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church or Kempsville Volunteer Rescue Squad. Her memory and legacy will dwell in our hearts forever.
