Margaret Crowder Schlegel, age 70, was called home to be with her Lord on January 3, 2020. Margaret (known as Peggy to her immediate family) was born in Norfolk, Va. (formerly Princess Anne County) to the late John E. and Virginia W. Crowder. She was the widow of her beloved husband Charles R. Schlegel, Jr., and was predeceased by her son, Raymond Hembd of Norfolk; a sister, Linda Crowder of Norfolk, a brother, Donald Crowder of PA, and a step-son, Charles R. Schlegel, III.
Ms. Schlegel, a native of the Norfolk, Virginia area, was the Office Manager of All American Associates (from which she retired after 27 years), and more recently worked in accounting the last 8 years for the great people at QED Systems in Virginia Beach.
She was a member of New Life Christian Fellowship in Chesapeake, and enjoyed playing the piano, visiting and having small bible studies at nursing homes, leading small group worship, and volunteering her accounting skills at a small Christian Outreach in Virginia Beach. She was involved in Rosa’s House, a temporary home for women just coming out of the drug culture or being released from jail, providing aid in helping them get back on their feet, finding jobs, teaching new life skills, etc. Her Heart’s calling was to reach out to those who were struggling in life and introducing them to her Wonderful Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Ms. Schlegel leaves behind her precious daughter and son, Donna Lochbaum of Bellefonte, PA, and Steve Hembd of Tampa, FL, her favorite sister, Catherine Sykes of Cumming, GA., and her caring brother, John Crowder, III of Chesapeake, Va., along with 4 wonderful grandchildren, namely Jessica Hembd, Jeremiah Smith, Ruby Hembd, and Amanda Rowe, and 5 Great-grandchildren, namely, Andria Gaito, Kaydence Gaito, Sawyer Abbott, Luna May, and Raiden Rose, along with many nephews and cousins. She leaves them all with the hopeful assurance of seeing each of them again one day.
Margaret’s life was rich with precious family, faithful friends, and the many blessings from her Lord Jesus.

Too all of Margaret's Family, my heart goes out too all. I am late posting this message as I had missed Margaret's obituary and Rolinda Maecum's email. Margaret and her late husband Charlie were special to my late wife Phyllis as we attended small group meetings as part of Greenbriar Christian Church on Volvo Parkway Chesapeake VA. Praying the Lord will comfort all family and friends grieving Margaret's transition from our earthly company. Sincerely Stan Opie
