Margaret E. Sweatt, 90, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015 in Hampton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George U. Sweatt; her son, George U. Sweatt Jr; and her grandson, Brian K. Sweatt.
She was a cafeteria cook for William E. Waters School and was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Portsmouth. She also held membership in Our Lady of Victory Alumni and Cavalier Manor PCR (Neighborhood Watch Program).
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Audrey O. Sweatt; her sister-in-law, Muriel Sweatt; two grandchildren, Kenneth V. Sweatt and Glenn A. Sweatt; three great grandchildren, Crystal, Olivia and Micheala Sweatt; numerous cousins; and other extended family.
A funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, November 8, 2015 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church followed by interment in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Chesapeake.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Altmeyer Funeral Home, Denbigh Chapel, Newport News, is in charge of arrangements.

I am so sorry to hear about cousin Margaret. My grandmother Vivian Marshall Washington was her cousin and still lives in Portsmouth Va. Grandma sends her love and prayers and wanted me to let the family know she is praying for them.

Margaret and I first met as classmates in first grade at Our Lady of Victory. As adults, we would see each other, from time to time. When we did, it was always like old times. I would like to extend my condolences and prayers to her family. A sweet woman has earned her wings!
