Mark Patrick Van Dzura

April 10, 1972 - December 25, 2017

Mark Patrick Van Dzura left this earth suddenly on Christmas morning, December 25, 2017 at the age of 45 years old.  Mark was a native of Wyoming, but through his father’s military career, he traveled to and lived in many places including Hawaii, the Philippines, Texas, Illinois and Arizona, before finally growing roots in Virginia. Desirreka “Desi” and Mark met in the summer of 2003 and married in the summer of 2007. They have been together for over 14 years and married 10 years. Their children Quentin and Princeton were the light of Mark’s life and truly the center of his world. His constant presence in their lives is what filled his every day to the very end.

He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Pacita Luna.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife, Desi; and their two sweet boys, Quentin (13) and Princeton (8); his father, Michael Van Dzura (Barbara); mother-in-law, Maeciola M. Pierce as well as his siblings, Beverly Neff, Crystal Van Dzura Liverpool, Jobith Van Dzura and Boyet Reyes and his lil’ buddy/sidekick, Buddah, the family pet. Mark is also survived by a large extended family and a host of loving friends, who also became family.

Mark loved to cook, entertain and make others laugh. Food was a conduit to community and togetherness for Mark and his family. His artwork brought joy to many.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2017 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 12893 Jefferson Ave., Newport News, VA 23608. A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2017 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 116 Denbigh Blvd., Newport News, VA 23608.
