Mary Ashbee Pittman

June 6, 1930 - June 17, 2016

Virginia Beach; Mary Ashbee Pittman, 86, passed away in her daughter’s home Friday, June 17, 2016.

Mary Ashbee Pittman was born in Norfolk, VA to Charlie and Nellie Ashbee; the youngest of five children.  She was proud to be a graduate of Maury High School.  She was a beautiful soul with a heart of gold who was deeply loved and adored by her family and friends.  Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her daughters Deborah Pittman and Mary Ann Kaplan, Son-in-law Shep Kaplan and grandson Zachary Kaplan.  Her death was preceded by her beloved husband Carl Pittman, parents Charlie and Nellie Ashbee, sisters Nellie Jarvis and Thelma Talley and brothers Robert and Samuel Ashbee.

Mary found the most joy in her family.  Her love was infinite and unconditional.  Her southern sweetness, selflessness and warmth endeared her to everyone whose lives she touched.   Her passing has left a deep sadness and a hole in our hearts that will slowly be filled with wonderful memories.  We loved her dearly and completely.  Heaven has a new angel.

The family will received loved ones Tuesday, June 21 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach.  A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
