Mary Jean Ransford, 96, of Williamsburg, VA passed away peacefully of December 12, 2020. Beloved wife of 60 years to J. Robert Ransford. Jean had 8 children, 16 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. She was the only child of Carl Christian Nelson (Nielson) and Mary Agnes Jennings Nelson. Born and raised in Geneva, NY. Jean is a graduate of DeSales High School, Geneva, NY and Nazareth College, Rochester, NY. She loved the time she spent with her family, enjoyed raising eight children and cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren. When the children were playing sports Jean was in the bleachers cheering them on, she enjoyed reading the sports page to keep track of her beloved college and professional teams. She took pride in her gardens, loved history hence the move to Williamsburg, VA. Jean was a baker, always had treats on hand when the children and grandchildren would visit. She and Bob loved to travel and planned annual family vacations. Jean is survived by her children, Edward Ransford, Williamsburg, VA, Larry Ransford, Denver, CO, Carole Glowacki and husband Jan Glowacki, Naples, FL, Jim Ransford and wife Kathie Ransford, Naples, FL, Barbara Sidey and husband Paul Sidey, Denver, CO, Robin Hallowell and husband Jonathan Markella, Duxbury, MA, Rick Ransford and wife Renee Ransford, Pittsburg, PA, and Regina Ransford, Milton, MA.

Private family service will be held. Donations in memory of Jean Ransford to Alzheimer’s Association, 255 N. Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
