Mary Jo Phillips Velasco, age 78, went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours on April 2, 2018. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia to parents Gertrude and Charles Phillips. She went on to marry her love Antonio, and together they had 3 beautiful children. Mary had a wonderfully successful career as a nurse, She practiced medicine with compassion at a hospital in Baltimore as well as in Portsmouth Naval Hospital.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents and by her oldest daughter Tammy.
Left to forever cherish her memory is her devoted husband, Antonio Noli Velasco; sons Anthony Mark and Sean Noli; grandchildren Joey, Stacey, Angelica, Aerial, Malia, Kamalei, Christiana, Brandon, Anthony Jr., Alyssa, and Jaden; great grandchildren Keilana, Jozlyn, Iolana, and Dominic.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be so very missed but still so very much loved.
See this sweet lady in her last few days singing her soft melody here.

My prayers of comfort for the Velasco family at this time of sorrow. I worked with Mary back in the 80’s at Portsmouth Naval. We became good friends, but lost contact over the years. May you rest in peace my friend.
