Mary Willis "Marcie" Lynn

May 3, 1933 - March 16, 2021

Mary (Marcie) Willis Lynn, 87, passed away on Tuesday, March 16th, 2021 at home. Born in Atlanta, Georgia she was the daughter of Harwood T. and Catherine Hayes Willis. She graduated from Bayside High School in Bayside NY, and moved to Virginia to attend the College of William & Mary. After graduating with a degree in English, she began her teaching career at R.O. Nelson Elementary School in Newport News. She then went on to teach at Lee Hall Elementary and retired from Denbigh High School in 1989.

She was a member of Denbigh United Presbyterian Church. She was a loving mother and will be remembered for her wit, graciousness, and love of animals.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Lynn Cotrupi of Poquoson, Virginia; grandchildren Catherine Lynn Cotrupi of Radford, Virginia, Christopher Hayes Cotrupi, of Durham, North Carolina, and Emily Gordon Cotrupi of Miami, Florida; and her sister, Julia Wilkins Willis of Williamsburg.

The family would like to thank Jenny Kramer, Tobi Tyndall, and Bea VanDevender for the love and support shown to them over the past several years.

The memorial service will be held Monday, March 22nd, at 2:00pm at Denbigh United Presbyterian Church, located at 302 Denbigh Blvd in Newport News. Masks and social distancing required.   The private interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Buena Vista, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Peninsula SPCA or an animal shelter of your choosing.
