Melvinia Lois Rollins, 67, of Newport News, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. She was preceded in death by her father, Cleo Dell Pickard Sr.; and two sisters, Delcine Pickard and Patricia Ann Pickard.
Melvinia attended High school at Huntington High school in Newport News, VA. After high school she worked faithfully at Henniges Automotive. After giving 16 years of service she retired and spent her time with family. She also loved playing Solitaire, reading books and especially playing bingo.
Melvinia is survived by her mother, Gloria Suggs; step-mother, Sally Pickard; three daughters: Michelle Miller (Don), Lenora Rollins, and Christel Rollins- Pittman; her siblings: Lisa Suggs, Debra Suggs, Billy Ray Tucker, Beverly Lee (Quincy), Carlos Cardwell, Ricky Cardwell, Leo Pickard, and Cleo Pickard, Jr.; her grandchildren: Brittany Anderson, Don Miller II, Dominico Maloney, Tajahn Abraham, Kadijah Pittman, McKenzie Pittman, Tiara Abraham, Rashad Pittman, and Justin Miller; her great-grandchildren, Amiya Pittman and Karter Abraham.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 13, 2019, at Altmeyer Funeral Home-Denbigh Chapel, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 1:00PM a repast to follow. All services will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home-Denbigh Chapel, 12893 Jefferson Ave., Newport News, VA 23608.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.altmeyerfh.com.

I can remember Melvina’s beautiful singing voice. Singing ‘Ain’t No Way’ by Aretha Franklin way back in 1968, I think it was.
Also, no one could beat her in jack rocks.
I hope everyone has a fond memory of her. I have many…
