Melvon Kendell Ivey, 33, of Newport News, passed away on November 15, 2021 at 11:18 pm. Beloved in life and in death, Melvon was senselessly taken from his family and this earth too soon. During his life, Melvon faced many struggles that he was working to overcome. He recently made it out of incarceration and was adjusting to living life to the fullest. He also worked hard in construction for the city of Newport News.
Melvon was a member of Liberty Live Church with his wife Amber Lynn Ivey, whom he affectionately called the RedIvey143 to his BlackIvey143. Together, they prayed often and worshiped God in many ways. Throughout the day, Amber and Melvon said to each other, “God first, nothing, nobody, not even us, only us, words matter, and actions do too.” Ruth 1:16-17 was their guiding scripture. He loved to watch sunrises and sunsets, cars, food, listen to music, play video games, go on walks, to read, and to learn, especially about business.
Melvon is survived by his wife, Amber, daughter, Jada Hunter, stepdaughters Dasjah Hunter and Nasya Henderson (Terrence), stepson Elijah Hunter, father-in-law Warren Hunter, mother-in-law Nancie Wilson, sisters-in-law Robin Cooke-Hunter King and Kay Marra, and a host of nieces and nephews. He will forever be missed and always be in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to his Treasured Memories fund at https://www.tmcfunding.com/funds/help-melvon-ivey-s-family/6209/ to help with expenses during this very difficult time.
