Michael Eugene Allen, of Newport News, passed away, May 22, 2019, at the age of 63. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska on May 25, 1955.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte M. Allen; parents; 3 brothers; and his beloved dog. Michael is survived by his wife’s children and their families; many dear friends and co-workers; and his cat.

He briefly served in the US military before starting a long-time career with the City of Newport News.

Michael was a dedicated employee for the Department of Juvenile Services for the City of Newport News. He was the first graduate from the department of the City’s Pathways to Learning Series, earning him an award for his accomplishment. He was honored at the City’s Recognition Ceremony for completing Team Dynamics, Performance Strategies, Workplace Etiquette, Diversity and Inclusion, Organizational Culture, Peer Coaching, HOP Philosophy, Developing Smart Goals, Values and Ethics, and Communication. Michael was very proud of this.

A special thanks to everyone who supported Michael over the years during his failing health; their love, care, and companionship certainly meant a great deal to him.

Michael, along with his brother, will be laid to rest in Illinois at a later date to be determined.
