I met Mike when he started working at Target, we became fast friends. We both are 49er fans and always talked sports and joked around. We had dinner almost every night at work and became very close. He was always a protector of sorts, if I had any issues or problems he would back me up 100% of the time. He was a very thoughtful friend who was very giving, kind, and compassionate. I will hold my memories of him close to my heart. RIP my friend. My condolences to his kids and family.

Mike was an amazing person. I was his Leading Petty Officer at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. He had a way of connecting with the junior Sailor’s and was able to keep them motivated and on the right path. He had a smile that would light up the room. Even though he told me he didn’t want to be at Portsmouth, that he belonged in the field with his Marines, he gave his all to the Sailors he led.
One of the best memories of Mike was PT with his ruck sack filled with who knows what (I never asked, just knew it was heavy). He loved challenging people to be the best. I am saddened by his passing, but am a better person for having known him. Rest easy Doc.

I remember meeting “Billo” for the first time in 2003. He was my “Baby Doc” for STA platoon. We were roommates back then at 3/8 and he kept me on my toes. Even back then it was hard to keep up with him and his physical prowess. I remember when I went to talk to our Platoon Commander about giving him time off for some community service he was awarded for something (I won’t mention that now, hahaha) I tried to swing it that he would get volunteer hours and it was good for his evaluation at that time. But when they found out it was court ordered the Commander was like no way Doc he can do that on his own time. We deployed hastily to Haiti in 2004 and I was left behind a few days but knew he would take care of our Marines in my absence. When I finally landed I had quite to head butting with a certain Sgt and may have said somethings I shouldn’t of to him. Needless to say STA platoon was left in good hands with “Billo”. The Navy is really pretty small and I ran into him when I got stationed in Portsmouth and he was getting ready to get out of the Navy. We would chat every once an a while and then he left. Times like these make you appreciate the moments in life that all to offen we take for granted. I love you Brother and will see you on the other side. Simper Fidelis Doc, Fair Winds and Following Seas, we have the watch you stand releaved.
