Mildred Lucille "Tuta" Shiflet

October 10, 1921 - January 26, 2018

Mildred “Tuta” Lucille Shiflet, 96, of Chesapeake, VA, went to be with Jesus on January 26, 2018.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 2nd at 2:00 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home located at 929 South Battlefield Boulevard in Chesapeake.  Her beloved nephew, Sam Lewis of Middle Cross Baptist Church, will be officiating.  A time of fellowship will be observed at 1:00 pm preceding the service.

Tuta was born in Augusta, GA on October 10, 1921.  She graduated from Maury High School in1938.

She was an accomplished pianist and had served the Lord for many years at Willoughby Baptist Church in Norfolk.

Tuta worked as the administrative secretary for the Commonwealth Attorney in Norfolk for 36 years. She enjoyed spending time with four generations of nieces and nephews.  She was a charter member of Middle Cross Baptist Church. Until recently, she operated an active prayer chain along with her sister, Mary.

Tuta is survived by her sister, Mary, as well as four generations of nieces and nephews. Tuta is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey Hatcher and Mildred Lucille Shiflet as well as her three brothers – Harvey, Delmar, and Bob.

As she left her physical life, she did so with the blessed assurance that we would all be together again soon in heaven.

Friends and family will be received at her home following her memorial service.
