Miriam Anne "Mimi" Pemberton

August 11, 1945 - October 8, 2017

Miriam Anne Pemberton, a.k.a. “Mimi” entered into eternal life early on Sunday morning, October 8, 2017. Born on August 11, 1945 in Florida, Mimi also resided in California, Texas and lastly Virginia Beach, VA. Mimi was predeceased by her parents Redden Herbert Pemberton Jr. and Helen Mary Pemberton (formerly Nortenen), and her sister Janice H. Schoger and brother Billy Pemberton. Left to cherish Mimi’s memory are her niece Kelley Schoger, nephew Andy Schoger and partner Tina Lantz, her brother Herb Pemberton III, sister-in-law Sharon Pemberton and nephew Bryan Pemberton. Further survived by other relatives and friends.

A most kind, private and loyal daughter, sister and aunt, Mimi will be missed beyond measure. She was also a talented painter and watercolorist. She studied art at UCLA and went on to earn her B.A. in Art from University of California, Northridge. She exhibited her work widely as a resident of Virginia Beach, including Riverview Gallery, Portsmouth; Studio Arts Gallery, Norfolk; Stockley Gardens Arts Festival; Ghent Arts Festival; Neptune Festival among others. About her art, she stated “Capturing a visual impression of a scene, the feel of a cool spring morning or hot summer afternoon, is more exciting to me than making an exact replica. The serenity I find in nature is a wonderful escape from the noise and pace of everyday life and a sense that I like to convey in my paintings.” She also loved to garden and used her garden flowers as a source of inspiration in her work. She left the world a huge gift in her kindness, her subtle humor and her vibrant paintings.

A memorial service and reception will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Maestas Chapel, Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1801 Baltic Ave., Virginia Beach, VA 23451 at 2:00 pm.

What our families say...

In my opinion, there is no better facility in Virginia than Altmeyer Funeral Homes. Not only was Chris Sisler there to hold my hand every step of the way, his family members were holding the door on the day of the funeral to help and encourage me. I will never forget their grace. He led me and my family through the process as a personal friend and neighbor, and as the ultimate professional.
